According to a recent NRF conducted by the University of Florida, with a funding grant from ADT Security Services, retailers lost almost $12 billion to the 27 million shoplifters who stole merchandise from them in 2007.

Mobile Websites Don't Make the Grade According to Yankee Group
Yankee Group has released a new report that shows mobile Web sites struggle to deliver an effective experience to the millions of consumers they serve. Based on a new Yankee Group methodology, the report scores 32 mobile websites on a scale of 1 to 100 and finds not one Web site with a passing grade of 70.

Internet Advertising Revenues in Q3 '08 at Nearly $5.9 Billion, Reports IAB
The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) have announced that Internet advertising revenues reached almost $5.9 billion for the third quarter of 2008, representing an 11 percent increase over the same period in 2007.

Consumer Outlook Bleak for Holiday Season, Worse for 2009, Credit.com Survey Finds
According to a new national survey from Credit.com, consumers are very concerned about the upcoming holiday shopping season and don’t think 2009 will be any better. While the survey found people were generally worried about their personal finances during this time of economic turmoil, more than half of respondents think their situation will improve in 2009.

According to a new study conducted after the financial market meltdown by BDO Seidman, LLP, CMOs at leading US retailers expect "Black Friday" (November 28 this year) sales will grow 1.2% this holiday season, while "Cyber Monday," the first Monday after Thanksgiving, will grow by 2.4% this year.
